Two different selections, each featuring three bottles we're loving right now.
Selection one: 'Keep it Natural' All natural and low intervention.
Miro 2018 - Cristiano Guttarolo From his youngest vines of Primitivo, this spent just four days on skins, with fermentation and élevage in stainless steel, where it rested until the following May. This is a wine of blissful simplicity. It is light, bright and crunchy, full of tart young fruit that is just incredibly appetising.
Trinqu'Ame 2018 - La Grange Tiphaine Lots of apple and citrus fruit without shouting Sauvignon. Showing its youth and all the better and brighter for it. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermentation and ageing takes place in stainless steel tank. Bottled in the spring following the harvest. Very happy indeed!
Le Rose 2018 - Catherine Bernard 100% Carignan. Lots of fruit character and finishes very dry, classic and briliant as always from Catherine but 2018 is even prettier than previous vintages.
Selection two: 'Keep it Classic' True expressions of classic grapes in a traditional style.
Albariño 2014 - Angel Sequeiros A man who only grows Albarino and only makes two wines. He is focused and so are his wines. Crisp, with lots of citrus fruit lift and a ripeness of fruit that gives a little more body and complexity to the wine. Extremely refreshing.
Bourgogne Chardonnay 2016 - Lequin-Colin A Very well established producer of top Burgundy. This, their village white, is textbook and so satisfiying. A joy with roasted chicken.
Chianti Classico Riserva 2015 - Capannelle Unmistakable Chianti, so much so it almost transports you to Tuscany the minute you pop the cork. Made extremely well. Sings of red fruits and wild herbs and a little vanilla from the oak. a very happy bottle.
